    INDOOR FIELD HOCKEY

    • Indoor field hockey is played with 5 players and a goalie on a smaller, hard-court surface with low sideline rebound boards that are integrated into game play in a similar way to ice hockey. The technical fundamentals, speed of execution, vision and ball control needed for the indoor style of play greatly enhances player development for the outdoor game with respect to reaction time, stick skills and tactical decision making. The discipline is sanctioned by USA Field Hockey, is the primary winter training method offered by clubs nationwide and is encouraged for players looking to compete at the most competitive levels.

    INDOOR EQUIPMENT

    • Indoor field hockey uses a specific indoor stick that is lighter and thinner compared to traditional outdoor sticks, and also requires athletes to play with a left-handed glove. Neither are required for indoor tryouts, but will be needed for the indoor season.

    INDOOR SEASON OVERVIEW

    • Hard court indoor team training and tournament play for U10-U19 age groups
    • Season runs from mid-November ’26 through late February ‘27
    • National/regional/local indoor tournaments assigned by team placement and developmental leveling by indoor playing experience
    • Includes PSE Indoor Series, USAFH NITQs (U16/U19) and NIT National Indoor Tournament for most experienced teams
